Petrov Val
Petrov Val ((ロシア語:Петро́в Вал)) is a town in Kamyshinsky District of Volgograd Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Ilovlya River (a tributary of the Don), north of Volgograd, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: ==History== It grew out of the construction of the Volga–Don Canal between the Ilovlya and the Kamyshinka Rivers, started by Peter the Great in 1698 but abandoned soon after. It was granted urban-type settlement status in 1949 and town status in 1988.
